Cannot run logstash using cmd please help!

Hi,

I installed logstash ZIP folder using https://www.elastic.co/downloads/logstash. Also prepared a logstash.conf config file, followed the steps as explained on this: https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/logstash/current/configuration.html. But Im getting the follwing error:

C:\Users\shraddhasrivastav\Downloads\logstash-6.3.1\bin>logstash -f logstash-simple.conf
Unrecognized VM option 'UseParNewGC'
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

Please help to solve.

The default jvm.options file assumes that you are running a HotSpot JVM. If you are running something else you may need to adjust it. You could start by just commenting that out. What JVM are you using? (What does 'java -version' produce?)

HEY,

iAM RUNNING java version 8:

C:>"C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_171\bin\java" -version
java version "1.8.0_171"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_171-b11)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.171-b11, mixed mode)

When i run the logstash command i get error:

C:\Users\shraddhasrivastav\Downloads\logstash-6.3.1\bin>logstash -f logstash-simple.conf
could not find java; set JAVA_HOME or ensure java is in PATH

i even ran
C:\Users\shraddhasrivastav\Downloads\logstash-6.3.1\bin>echo %JAVA_HOME%
%JAVA_HOME%
