Daily index with datetime filter in query

Hello,

We use daily index with Hot-Warm node architecture.
If we submit a query with wildcard in index name, but we filter certain daytime in query,
it looks like es would scan all the index which matched with wildcard index name.

Does it mean the index name is not involved with search with time even we create it uder daily based?
