Even when I stop Logstash, Kibana is up and runningwithout any change in data displayed by kibana. These 2 are independent or i'm stopping the wrong logstash?

Yes they are.
I figured it out myself. My problem was keeping a renamed version of config file in the same path, even though the file extension was renamed as well.
