Difference between latency and service_time in esrally

Hi,

It wasn't clear to me the difference between latency and service_time mentioned here

If I understand this correctly, service_time sounds like a representation of "took" that ES returns in responses, or is it even more granular like per shard time?
Latency seems like the HTTP response times?
Is my understanding correct?

Can someone please clarify?
