Do I need filebeat module for filebeat to work?

I'm new to ELK and at the point of setting up filebeat. I have input and output configured on a server to send logs to LS. Do I have to enable ANY filebeat modules or can I comment that section out in the .yml file?

you can comment that section out (and could delete the modules folder also if you are so inclined)
filebeat will start as long as there are prospectors configured
