Do MLT queries in Elasticsearch use term vectors?

Elasticsearch (1.4.2) make use of term vectors if these ar activated?

I'm having hard times debugging Elasticsearch 1.4.2 and yes it seems so,
but only when using the more like this query, not when using the more like
this action.
The more like this action seems to fetch the source field, extract the
value of your mlt fields, then to re-analyze them.
