Does daily snapshot of monthly indexes only track deltas?

Hi, I I'm currently snapshotting daily indexes, but I would like to switch to Monthly indexes. reading the docs here: https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/modules-snapshots.html

It didn't specifically see anything about deltas or differences. But I'm guessing if I take a daily snapshot of the monthly index it will store only the deltas unless a merge happens which then it would snapshot what ever difference of the merge?

Is there a specific way to backup a monthly index on a daily basis?

P.s: Using S3 repository.
