I am evaluating whether the project i am working on would benefit from taking Elastic support. I appreciate that there is a cost per node/ 10 nodes. Does this apply to every elastic node that uses the licenced features (ie Security) or is it based only on the Production Clusters? Or is there some middle ground?

Support is based on the number of nodes in a cluster. There are different subscriptions, which allow you to use different commercial features inside of that supported cluster.
