Elasticsearch 5.0 and Date field

Hi,

Quick question on ES 5.0 . I understand that indexing on numeric fields has been significantly improved; so if there is a date field (which I assume is stored as a unix time), I would expect that the search improvement would extend to time as well. Can anyone confirm/deny this?
