Elasticsearch dead but pid file exits

HI,
I tried restarting the elasticsearch cluster by stop/start all the nodes.
After service start, we see the following error:
Elasticsearch dead but pid file exits.
Logs are not getting populated also.
Checked for space issues on var/log elasticsearch. It seems okay.
Any help?
