Elasticsearch - Is there any certain number for mapping explosion

Hi,

I have a doubt over number of fields in Elastic.
Since elastic keeps a default limit of 1000, can I ensure that less than 1000 fields will definitely not lead to a mapping explosion?
Also, is there a certain number which can ensure me of Mapping Explosion?
What are the most obvious causes of Mapping Explosion ?
