Facing restart issues when migrating elasticsearch version from 1.5.2 to 2.3.3
getting below error on executing " service elasticsearch restart" as root;

[ERROR][bootstrap ] Exception
java.lang.RuntimeException: don't run elasticsearch as root.
at org.elasticsearch.bootstrap.Bootstrap.initializeNatives(Bootstrap.java:93)
at org.elasticsearch.bootstrap.Bootstrap.setup(Bootstrap.java:144)
at org.elasticsearch.bootstrap.Bootstrap.init(Bootstrap.java:270)
at org.elasticsearch.bootstrap.Elasticsearch.main(Elasticsearch.java:35)

tried the command as user, but getting below error:

Could you please assist?

Why not use the deb/rpm packages and the init scripts in those?

Hi,

I am new to this. please let me know the location where we can put the init scripts. We could not find deb/rpm package.
