Elasticsearch status is active and running but cant able to connect using curl

I got this status info by this command
sudo /etc/init.d/elasticsearch status

But when I do

curl -XGET "localhost:9200"
curl -XGET 'localhost:9200/?pretty'

Then I am getting error as

curl: (7) Failed to connect to localhost port 9200: Connection refused
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

can you paste the logs of the node you started. it should print out what interfaces it has bound.
