ELK migration from executable to service on windows

Hi All,

I have installed elasticsearch (unzip the zip installer and running it using cmd ) on windows server and started using it since last 2 weeks.

But now, I would like to run it as service rather than running it from cmd prompt. In order to do that, I have used the msi installer to install the elasticsearch as service.

It is up and running on the same host/port. I also copied the data folder from previous elasticsearch. But I still don't see the content of previous data.

What things do I need to consider to copy existing data ( and template). Do I need to apply the template again on the new MSI instance as well?

Version 6.0.1 (both exe and msi)

FYI we’ve renamed ELK to the Elastic Stack, otherwise Beats and APM feel left out! :wink:

What are the commands you ran?
