I'm currently using Elasticsearch in an on-premises environment and I'm exploring options to enhance the security of my cluster. I was wondering if enabling a native multi-factor authentication is possible or feasible for on-premises versions of Elasticsearch.
I've noticed that this feature is available for Elastic Cloud, but I would like to understand if it's also an option for on-premises versions of Elasticsearch.
The feature you mentioned seems to be exclusive to Elastic Cloud, running on-premises you would need to integration to an authentication method that already suports MFA.
Do you have a paid license for your on-premises cluster? With a paid license you could use SSO and configure the MFA on your identity provider.
