Error upgrading kibana to newer version 8.17.0

Hi all,

I've been having this problems for the last 2 kibana version upgrade.
from 8.15.0 to 8.16.0 and from 8.16.0 to 8.17.0

Everytime i upgrade using both apt package manager and from deb package it gave me this error:

dpkg: error processing archive kibana-8.17.0-amd64.deb (--install):
error setting timestamps of '/usr/share/kibana/node_modules/@kbn/elastic-assistant-plugin/server/knowledge_base/security_labs/siestagraph_new_implant_uncovered_in_asean_member_foreign_ministry.md.dpkg-new': No such file or directory
dpkg-deb: error: paste subprocess was killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Errors were encountered while processing:
 kibana-8.17.0-amd64.deb

On that server i even delete all kibana related package and it still give me error.
But i was able to installed it on a clean new server without any issue.

Can anyone help me.

Thanks for your time.

I'm also running into this. The server I'm trying to upgrade Kibana on is an Ubuntu 20.04 server running Kibana 8.9.0.

I pinged internally, but holiday week so not sure how soon response. ...

This could be related to Kibana Knowledge Base Files being detected as Malware after update to 8.16 · Issue #202114 · elastic/kibana · GitHub.

Some anti-virus scanners are flagging false positives on this documentation. Do you have an AV running that could be quarantining the files?

It was AV related, the file in question was quarantined. Temporarily suspending AV allowed Kibana to install successfully.
