Is it okay to use es6.0 client for es7.0 cluster? Any potential issues?

Saw the breaking changes in the rest client here. https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/breaking-changes-7.0.html#breaking_70_restclient_changes

But is it okay to continue using es6.0 for a es7.0 cluster?
