Fielddata disabled on text fields

I'm using Grafana to graph metribeats data and filter by ip address "fields.ipaddr"

Is there an entry to enable fielddata on this item in elasticsearch.yml so that its enabled on every newly created index ?

Enabling field data by default can have a significant toll on memory.
