Is it possible to configure filebeat so that it binds to a port other than 5044?

Do you mean beats input plugin or filbeat log shipper? Because you can put whatever port you want on the input plugin, but the shipper doesn't use port binding. It's a client that connects to the logstash/ES for example.
Yeah, apologies this is a red herring. We're having issues with a filebeat instance that won't start though there's no obvious differences compared to another instance which does. i may start another thread for that.
