I understand we need to disable firewalld for installation. Is it safe to re-enable it once it is up and running on the host machine?

I don't believe Docker 1.11 (at least) and firewalld play nice together, see eg https://github.com/moby/moby/issues/16137#issuecomment-271615192, so we would currently not recommend trying to re-activate firewalld post installation
