How can I show a "no matches found" message for swifttype automcomplete plugin

I am using the autocomplete jquery plugin (with Swifttype) for my site search. It's working great except if you type something it can't find, like "bananas", nothing appears to indicate that it can't find any matches. Therefore, users are just hitting enter and being redirected to the homepage. As you can imagine that's quite confusing. Can I:

  1. Have a "no matches found" show similar to normal results?

  2. if not, is there a way to add something to the function that says if there's no matches redirect to a specific page?
