In what types of queries is the query string syntax available and how can it be disabled?

I need to disable the ability of the users to use query string syntax and Lucene query parser syntax in search queries. However, I am not sure that query string syntax and lucene query parser syntax are used only in query string query.
Maybe I can turn off syntax in the elastic index settings?
