We want to enforce index retention policy based on query usage patterns, e.g, if an index is not queried in the past XX days, it can be deleted. However, our users can use * index pattern or alias in the query, so we cannot use the index search stats as the usage pattern. The number of matches per index should work. What do you think about exposing the stats for number of matches?
