I searched but could not find an answer. My apologies.
Our snapshot creation runs for many hours, and we are ingesting data at the same time.
Does the snapshot only include index data as of the start of the snapshot? Or does it also include the data just being ingested during the last few minutes of the snapshot? If the latter, how does it track the recent changes?
Segments being snapshotted will not change. New segments will be created during the snapshot operation if ingestion is occurring. Those segments will not be added to the snapshot in progress. Only new segments will be snapshotted for the next snapshot of that index (i.e., ones that were created/merged since the beginning of the last snapshot).
