Installing Elasticsearch - archive vs DEB

Hello All,

Now I've been using this ES on linux machines - Azure machines
simply by downloading archive - tar - and install

Now I wanted to move to multiple nodes.

  1. I found that I can't communicate between two nodes and form a multi-node cluster if I'm using an archive setup - is that true?

  2. Using Debian -- I get this error:

(Reading database ... 53229 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to unpack elasticsearch-8.5.3-amd64.deb ...
Unpacking elasticsearch (8.5.3) over (8.5.3) ...
Setting up elasticsearch (8.5.3) ...
System has not been booted with systemd as init system (PID 1). Can't operate.
Failed to connect to bus: Host is down

what I get from that is that the way my machine is setup - where init is bash not systemd- can't work with debian installation...

is there a work around for this issue?

Thanks
