Introducing -- Social News Evolved

Hello friends,

I wanted to invite you to check out my new project,
*, a social news site that uses machine learning to recommend
based on your
unique preferences. If you are willing to spend a few minutes and try
out the site, you won't regret it. Finding great stuff to read has never
been easier!

Before you get started, here are a few more details about the site to give
you some context:

Sharengeti is a community-driven collection of the best links on the Web,

delivering a tailored browsing experience to each user. Users submit
fresh, quality links to the site and the community votes on what it likes.
This has two effects:

  1. Links that receive the highest number of votes bubble their way up
    to the front page
  2. Sharengeti learns the unique preferences of each user and generates
for them a customized feed of recommended items

If you are willing, here are some things you can do to help out:

  1. Use the site
    • Create an account, submit an item, give a thumbs-up for items you
like and thumbs-down for items you don't like.
    • If there's a feature you'd like to see, or you have a suggestion
for improving the site, please let me know. You can send me
      emailbrandon.sterne@gmail.comdirectly, or use the contact
  2. Let me know if you have questions
    • If you have a question, and it is not covered in the help
section the site, please let me know.
    • Someone else is guaranteed to have the same question, and I plan to
incorporate these into a FAQ section.

If you've come this far, maybe you're willing to come a little further...
Any of the following would be hugely helpful in spreading the word:

  1. "Like" the Facebook page
    • If you are on Facebook, please go to the Sharengeti
and click "Like". If I get enough likes, I can get a dedicated FB page
that doesn't have the long string of digits in it.
    • I realize there's not much there now, but this page will eventually
have plenty of content on it for users to interact with.
  2. Retweet my announcement
  3. Tell people you know about it
    • The best type of advertising is word-of-mouth. I'd greatly
appreciate it if you can share the site with your friends and family.

I am very excited to share this project with you. It's been a labor of
love for quite a while now and the site is really working well. The people
that are using it are getting great recommendations and are having fun
sharing what they're reading with their friends. Let me know what you

Happy holidays,
Brandon Sterne
