Is there a description / note field available for mappings?

I find it very helpful to sometimes have a short description or note for certain fields within a mapping file. I checked the documentation but could not find such a field. Perhaps I overlooked it, but is there a "description" or "note" attribute available for fields within a mapping file?

Basically, I'd like to be able to briefly describe what some fields are for within the mapping file.
