Is there a way for multiple clusters to share the same index?

I have a rather large index that I would not like to duplicate that I need to be able to search from 2 different clusters. Does Elastic support this in any way?

Might cross-cluster search be what you are looking for?

I don't think so. Cross cluster search would let me search across indexes in multiple clusters if I understand correctly. I need the reverse in some sense. To have nodes in multiple clusters to be able to query one shared index.

Possibly by setting the node config across clusters to point to the same data directory? But that doesn't seem like it would work.

There is nothing like a shared index across clusters. Can you perhaps explain your requirements in a bit more detail?

That's what I figured. I just needed some independent confirmation. Thanks for your quick answer.
