Just Pushed: Striping the data location

(Shay Banon) #1

Heya,

Just pushed support to stripe the data location (instead of using other
means). It should simplify using elasticsearch on nodes with multiple
drives: https://github.com/elasticsearch/elasticsearch/issues/1356.

FYI: This is a huge win for us. Reminds me of Hadoop.

I have had numerous issues with large RAID0 sets with ElasitcSearch. Part of me thinks that an 8 drive, 8TB RAID0 volume is asking for stability issues down the road.

When will this be formally released instead of being in trunk?

No formal date yet, though I think we have enough features in master to
warrant a 0.18 release, so might be soon.

Shay,
Can you take a look at this pull request again:
https://github.com/elasticsearch/elasticsearch/pull/1218 I submitted
another patch with your old suggestions and haven't heard anything else.

If I need to rebase or something, lemme know.

Thanks,
Pat
