I appreciate the simplification of the architecture described here

Is it planned to support SSL for the Kafka output?

Yes. See https://github.com/elastic/beats/blob/master/libbeat/docs/outputconfig.asciidoc#tls-2

But it is not tested yet.

We successfully tested topbeat with kafka and ssl.

Where can I download the 1.2.0 nightlies? I only see the 5.0.0 nightlies here:

Sorry, we didn't yet build packages for 1.2.0 yet. We are releasing it next week.

Release 1.2.0 will not have kafka support included.
