Is there a place where active or semi-active ES developers hang out? There
are situations where some real-time chatting would help a lot those of us
looking to contribute to ES. #elasticsearch seems to be full, but most of
the time everyone's asleep/away and not responding. Is there some other
place one should look for some live disucssion?
Judging by the volume of posts on the mailing list, most of the active or
semi-active ES developers are European. I'm in the west coast of the USA,
so I do not see much synchronous action.

The elasticsearch channel [Elasticsearch Platform — Find real-time answers at scale | Elastic] is the
primary real-time chat, and has been for quite a long time. It might take a
little while to get an answer, especially during UTC night, but I would
argue that “most of the time everyone's asleep/away and not responding” is
an exaggeration. I myself help couple of people on the channel each day,
regularly.
