Local Logstash 7.9.3 error: (EACCES) Permission denied - NUL

Hi everyone,

I'm attempting to run a local instance of Logstash 7.9.3 on my windows machine. Specifically,

C:\logstash-7.9.3\bin>logstash.bat
[ERROR] 2022-05-06 15:04:57.066 [main] Logstash - java.lang.IllegalStateException: Logstash stopped processing because of an error: (EACCES) Permission denied - NUL

Logstash 7.16 seems to work just fine! But for some reason, any instance of Logstash 7.9.3 doesn't work at all.

I've tried reinstalling, running without configuring anything, changing permissions on folders, and migrating the directory to a shorter path.

Does anyone know how to fix this error?
