Logstash kafka input plugin not retrieving data

Im using logstash kafka input plugin, but it does not retrieve data from kafka topic. Logstash log shows the following messages:

Adding newly assigned partitions
Setting offset for partition to the committed offset FetchPosition<offset=0, offsetEpoch=optional.empty, currentLeader=LeaderAndEpoch, epoch=absent ....

It does not retrieve data from kafka topic.

Please advise...
