Logstash using abrevations on another index

Hi All,

I am using a different index for field abbreviations and its descriptions. How to use that index on another index to change field value based on abbreviations. Simply I am asking that one index hold US state abbr. and its full name. How to change or use this index on populating another index that using these abbr. short forms.
