I am using 8.17.3. All the info I find on making keys and such, are more than 5 years old and incomplete. I am trying to use Detections. I had previously used Elasticsearch and Kibana with no security. Closed lab environment. But I read that in order to use detections, they have to be set up with security.
after many tries, I got Elasticsearch to start up. Now trying to get Kibana going. I got zips, CA, and pems. Trying to find info on the actual creation for the crt and key values.
My presumption is that the "Can't verify version" error is because I do not have this set up.
I am unable at this time to put up screenshots. I did get the zip that gave me the elasticsearch-ca.pem and the http.p12. Along the way through slightly confusing older web pages, I also got elastic-certificates.p12, elastic-stack-ca.p12, and http-ca.p12.
In my elasticsearch yml, I am using the http.p12 and the elastic-certificates.12 with a password.
How do I get Kibana to sync with Elasticsearch?

Perhaps following the documentation here on your specific topic , and yes failed. The can't verify elasticsearch version is often just the connectivity issue
