Is there a regular practice how to name fields in mapping: cAmEl, hypen-sliced, or ruby_snake?
I've found one for Beats, but is there any recommendation or pitfalls (beside of the dots) ?

There's nothing common, other than the dots stuff as you note.
It's really up to what you're comfy with
