Hi All,

Although I have been playing around with ES for a few months, I haven't
gotten too deep into some of the Lucenesqe customizations, as it's mostly
been good out of the box. But, I think one thing I am confused on is what a
Facet is. Sorry for such a generic question, but figured i'd put it out
there anyway.

you mean how it is implemented in ES or what faceted search is about?

If the later then I think it is quite clearly explained in
http://www.elasticsearch.com/docs/elasticsearch/rest_api/search/facets/. If
you are after more general (less ES specific) explanation you can try
wikipedia Faceted search - Wikipedia

You mentioned that you had been experimenting with ES for few months, did
you run any faceted queries too? And the results are confusing you?
