I have a template that disables dynamic mapping and statically maps a few specific fields.
When data is ingested that does not fit the static mappings, I can see the data in elasticsearch, but I can't search it. Querying the mapping API doesn't give me any insight into these particular fields.
What is actually happening in the backend with these fields? Are they not searchable without either dynamic or static mappings?
