Nodes shutting down every few hours

I upgraded from 0.14.4 to 0.16.2. over the weekend. I made sure to do
everything from scratch, including the service wrapper script,
rebuilding the indices and repopulating the data. Since then the nodes
in my 2 node cluster keep shutting down every few hours (seems like
6-10 hours). The logs (which were running in WARN level) don't
indicate any strangeness and the memory usage seems fine. Any ideas
whether the upgrade might've caused something?

I've changed the log level to DEBUG and will see whether that reveals
any abnormalities, but just wanted to check in case there could be
something obvious.

I think this was my fault.. Discovered I had ensure=>stopped in Puppet
config for ES service for some reason.
