Permuterm indices for efficient wildcard searches?

I was wondering if the ElasticSearch team was planning on including permuterm indices:

This is a pretty good way to have searches based on wildcards. Thoughts?

Bad question. I realized that the size of the index balloons up so much that it would be quite expensive.
