Pick random set from index (not progressive)

Hi!

I want to do a search-as-you-type and I want to get a random set from query.

At the moment the results are progressive from index. Using search term a the results are aa, aaa, aab, aba.... But I want results like at, am, aa, ar, aau,....

How can I accomplish this results? Any idea?
