there's a long term plan to deprecate support for the Lucene query language, and replace it with KQL. But there's no specific timeline on that.
KQL should have an identical feature set, and it has better support in the UI (e.g. with autocomplete), so it's recommend to already start using KQL instead of the Lucene query language.
