What will happen to elasticsearch cluster if 2 out of 3 dedicated master nodes will go down?
Let's say we have replication factor 2 and basically 2/3 of our cluster went down - we still have the data because it was replicated but only one master would remain -> Will it still work?
No. If you lose a majority of the master-eligible nodes then you will no longer have a good copy of the cluster metadata which is only stored on a majority of the master-eligible nodes. Without this metadata the data on your data nodes is essentially meaningless.
