Relations between nodes, replicas and shards

Hi,

Are there any relations between nodes, replicas and shards that asume
minumum available nodes for specified number of shards and replicas in one
index ? I have 1 index splited into 60 shards with 2 replicas. When I start
first node none of the shards gets assigned. They are getting assigned
after starting the second node. So the question is, is there any equation
for minimum number of available nodes using number of shards and replicas ?

Hello!

What is your gateway recovery configuration ? Can you try setting the
following property:

gateway.recover_after_nodes: 1

That will tell ElasticSearch to start the recovery after a single node
is present.

A have default (local) gateway. Do you recommend any other gateway?

I will check this (gateway.recover_after_nodes: 1) today. Thanks.
