Setup to optimize Kibana performance

Hi,

Hoping to get some input and guidance on my Kibana setup to optimize its performance for clients.

  • Currently, Kibana is running on a separate AWS machine than ES and connecting remotely
  • The machine hosting Kibana is an EC2 t2.Medium running Ubuntu.
  • The machine hosting Elasticsearch is an EC2 r4.large running Ubuntu
  • The JVM options are set to default.

Are there any changes to the JVM options or other setup aspects that I can make to improve the performance? Should Kibana and Elasticsearch be on the same machine for best performance?

Thanks!

Are you having performance problems? What are they?
What version are you on? How are you monitoring things?
