Can you try a different type of serach and see if that makes any difference?
There is over 10x difference in time comparing SSD to HDD
That seems to indicate that disk I/O could be a factor.

I would recommend you try different queries and try to see if you can spot any pattern. At the same time look at system resources. Am not entirely sure what GET abc-2019.06.*/_search is turned into behind the scenes (likely a match_all query though), so try explicity seraching on a certain field and see if that changes how long it takes.
Just like I though, type of disk has nothing to do with this issue, it's cache related. That's sad that there is no commands that could tell me what exactly is wrong.
