Stable-esplugin bundlePlugin does not add classname to stable-plugtin-descriptor.properties file

Using 8.12.2.
when building plugin with Gradle, the classname is not added to the stable-plugin-descriptor.properties file.
The plugin deploys, but the classname property is NULL.
Any ideas?
