We have an indices with 12 shards and two replica. Total no. of nodes is:38. We have two extra nodes to make sure failure of one or two nodes doesn't make the shard(s) UNASSIGNED. I have set total_shards_per_node for this indices to 1. I noticed that one node has 2 shards (replica) allocated to one node. Rest of the nodes have one shard. I am not sure why total_shards_per_node for the indices is not working as expected.
