you can connect from your client to the tribe node via http, but the tribe
node effectively joins the different tribes using the transport layer, that
cannot be changed.

The request for using a single connection is due to restrictions in our
infrastructure.
We have multiple data centers running ELK and one "global" data center with
a Tribe node connecting to the ELK cluster in each data center.
The problem is that the number of open ports between the data centers are
limited, making it impossible to create two connections per data center
with a port range.
For that reason, it would be very convenient to use a single connection
(using one port) from Tribe to connect to each data center (ELK cluster).
