This is the error I am getting: Exiting: couldn't connect to any of the configured Elasticsearch hosts. Errors: [error connecting to Elasticsearch at http://10.0.0.132:9200: Get "http://10.0.0.132:9200": EOF]

Someone please help.. I have been at this for the last 8 hours, and really cant figure it out. I have visited every single google search possible.

Im new to ELK stack. I greatly appreciate anyones assistance here :expressionless:

Edit: I can ping and telnet elasticsearch
Edit2: Almost positive this is a certificate problem, just unsure how to correct it

Hello @Nightshade

Welcome to Elastic Community  !!!

could you try executing this below commands and let us know the results

filebeat test config

filebeat test output

This would validate your configuration and the 2nd command would do a connection test between your filebeat and Elasticsearch

Keep Posted !!! Thanks  !!!

Before your response I added

 output.elasticsearch:
   # Array of hosts to connect to.
   hosts: ["localhost:9200"]

  # Protocol - either `http` (default) or `https`.
   #protocol: "https"

   # Authentication credentials - either API key or username/password.
   #api_key: "id:api_key"
   ssl.verification_mode: "none"
   username: "elastic"
  password: "pass"

I then tried to curl

curl -u elastic http://10.0.0.132:9200
Enter host password for user 'elastic':
curl: (52) Empty reply from server

Then https curl:

 curl -u elastic https://10.0.0.132:9200
Enter host password for user 'elastic':
curl: (60) SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate in certificate chain
More details here: https://curl.se/docs/sslcerts.html

Doing what you suggested gave the following:

scarecrow@ELK:/etc/filebeat$ sudo filebeat test config
[sudo] password for scarecrow:
Config OK

scarecrow@ELK:/etc/filebeat$ sudo filebeat test config
[sudo] password for scarecrow:
Config OK
scarecrow@ELK:/etc/filebeat$ sudo filebeat test output
elasticsearch: http://localhost:9200...
  parse url... OK
  connection...
    parse host... OK
    dns lookup... OK
    addresses: ::1, 127.0.0.1
    dial up... OK
  TLS... WARN secure connection disabled
talk to server... ERROR Get "http://localhost:9200": EOF

This was what I thought. I have been trying to follow the guides on here for fixing TLS and am having issues.. I appreciate your response!

@Nightshade

There is issue with self signed certificate by seeing curl

I suppose the mentioned url in filebeat seems to be wrong by seeing the curl . Because i could see an https url .

Are you using https url for elasticsearch? if then please provide the same url in output.elasticsearch. As the output of filebeat test config command clearly shows that you have mentioned an http url

This error is in elasticsearch, try disabling the xpack security until you fix certificate issue.

I have only used http so far (elastic, kibana, logstash) and it worked. I can pipe logstash to elastic but not filebeat -> logstash -> filebeat

What we spoke about in PM worked! I have reached my max # of PMs for the day, so I could not reply.

Disabled xpack security

I just wanted to let you know you are appreciated
